A Mural of Smokey Joe

"Smokey" Joe Williams was a pitcher in the Negro Leagues. According to this page, no one is sure if the hurler died in 1946 or 1952, but his legend as a smokin' fastball thrower lives on. The jersey he is depicted wearing in the mural belongs to the Chicago Leland Giants, which existed in name between 1905 and 1911.

Well hello there from Seguin, Texas! Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment so I'd know to visit you. I enjoyed your post today. It is amazing, isn't it, the coincidences in life. Mark (my husband) and I have enjoyed learning about Smokey Joe and his family. Mark is working on a book now on the famous player. :)
