Endicott House: Day 4
Endicott House was built in 1898 and belonged to a local city judge. The house, located downtown, was slated for demolition in the 1980s (i.e., it was in the way of progress) preservationists managed to get the entire house relocated to 31st Street S, on the property of Boyd Hill Park. It's still standing strong and you can visit it along with the other "pioneer" destinations in the park

In its place at present is a Carrabba's Restaurant. The woman at the church thrift shop who sold this postcard to me actually used to live behind this motel when it was there. Since the postcard mentions Tyrone Mall, the card must date to at least the very early 1970s, when the mall was constructed.

Spring Training, 1950s style
AL LANG FIELD is located in the down-town area directly on Tampa Bay. The field is used as the spring training quarters of the St. Louis Cardinals. The New York Yankees also train in St Petersburg and AL LANG FIELD is the site of many pre-season games between these two baseball teams.

Waterfront Park and environs
Waterfront Park (soon to be Al Lang Field) and the shoreline of Tampa Bay along St Pete's Beach Drive.
Back of postcard reads:
ST PETERSBURG'S new and modern baseball field, spring training quarters of the famed St Louis Cardinals and where thousands every year watch such ball clubs as the New York Yankees, the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and many other great American and National league teams.
(and Happy Anniversary to my darling who married me in Straub Park just north of the ballpark, in front of the Vinoy!)
