Have a seat

This is one of a few remaining classic vintage concrete-and-mosaic benches left in Treasure Island. I remember what it was like to sit on them as a kid wearing a swimsuit: a little scratchy, a little warm (from the sun), and quite uncomfortable.
This one is located at the shuffleboard court behind the Tropic Terrace Motel.

Classic Florida

One of the few remaining classic (read: 'space age') motels on Treasure Island, The Sands' sign lights up each evening at dusk like clockwork, and it is a beautiful thing to behold. Simply classic Floridiana.

We spent last Christmas month living out at the beach, specifically Treasure Island. This week, we'll feature some random shots we took at this kitschy but very pleasant and enjoyable sland resort town.
